A Yoruba Hat

This a hat from the Yoruba people.  Beaded in crisp blue and white, flat on top with straight sides and a vertical embellishment on the right side.  The photo shows a reflection in a mirror of the back of the hat.  Available with the stand at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago.

What to do with a hat?

MIO is a cool design firm in Philadelphia making cool eco-friendly stuff.  Here are wool bowls made by a millinery manufacturer in Philadelphia of local sourced goods.  You can certainly see the “hat” in the three designs available which come in several colors.  The wool bowls take less energy to make and transport than ceramic or metal and can also be used as planters.  I saw these on a recent FLN Earth Day show so go check out MIO.
