Meet the Fantastic Philip Treacy!

Philip Treacy, London milliner de luxe and more, presented a trunk show of millinery magic at Neiman Marcus Chicago on 5/20/2010.  Mr. Treacy is shown here with a happy client wearing a black and natural straw hat with a vertical embellishment.  The couture collection consisted of pastel metallic straws with lush flowers, classic black and white presented in not-so-classic ways, bright rasberry large brim straw with a matching rhinstone accent pin, small saucer shaped hats with a halo of beaded veiling, a saucer of bright lime green with bright pink and black accents, just a touch of highly stylized feathers, and much more.  The overall feeling was light, beautiful and very vertical.  Mr. Treacy’s creations have been worn by adventurous heads for 20 years.  He has inspired a generation of milliners and hat afficianados with his witty and vibrant designs.  Lucky for me, I saw one of his runway shows in London in 1993. In a word – stunning!  In 2000, he was invited to participate in the Paris haute couture shows, where he became the first millinery designer to do so in 70 years.
